The
Kaliakra cape |
|
The
Kaliakra cape was declared a protected area in 1941. It is one of the few places
where the rare species of monk seals (found only in the northern part of the
Bulgarian coast), were seen not long ago. A few decades ago, about 130 of
these rare animals were counted in the area. Back in 1980, the protected area
was expanded again and today it reaches 687 ha. |
